Quality video mate
i use the same rig for all my fishing but never considered the second hinge, it really makes sense and well explained
Tight Lines
Man, you look like Harry Enfield!
very true, what you say makes sence ill give it ago cheers =D
Luv this rig using for a year now and had a lot of success on it .
haw do u make the hinge?
i used your rig on a 48 hour stint at my club water which isnt the easiest of venues , i used it on 2 rods , result … one 5 pound tench , and two pound wonkey wheel (eel) . still ill try it again another time , another guy fishing with me using a diff rig , blanked . keep the vids rolling in , many thanx
.
I put this entirely down to them using entirely different methods and bait than any of us carpers which fish it daily throughout the year and more important, different rigs and methods/baits etc than the carp see on a daily basis there! Anyway im commenting far to much on your listings so ill stop now. I could go on forever
) Keep the videos coming mate.
I will just quickly add this story on a lake near me. Its a difficult lake as its over fished and its fairly small (1.5 acre) and only a small handful of 20s. To cut along story short heres Out of the 5 twentys that have been caught this season which i know about 4 have been caught by Novices. 3 By old men with quiver tips and feeders and one by a kid learning how to carp!
mm not sure why i missed ahead out of that comment, twice lol but i mean one step ahead.
Yes i totally agree that changing things and changing them often keeps us One step of the others and also more importantly one step of the carp who on many occasions and far to often are one step ahead of us! Certainly the larger carp
)
Hi Carpmagic95,
Yes, I agree with all what u have said about a bigger carp’s feeding habits & the reason Y I like to use longer links on at least 1 of my rods.
I also believe that doing something different to wat others do is another great way to target big carp. They seem to get used to seeing bait presentations that cud be danger, so I think changing things will often keep us 1 step ahead of the others.
What do u think?
Thanks for your contributions. Much appreciated!
Wayne
correct* sorry on previous comment.
Same as baiting up, I often catch my larger carp on the rod thats just outside the baited up area rather than the one i stick in the middle, it isnt just because fish feeding in the middle hit the line etc and are spooked, its the same as the method, the larger ones stick to the outside and pick bits off from there rather than get stuck in like the smaller less cautious carp and other fish.
Oh yes and before i forget you are corrent in your argument that shorter hooklinks used with the method catch smaller fish, this is because (and it isnt a new thought either!).. Small fish and small carp attack the method causing all sorts to waft about in the water, the bigger and far more cautious carp stay back and pick off the bait as it sways away from the method rig leaving the smaller ones attacking it. Therefore a longer hooklink is more likely to reach out to these larger carp.
that and the bloody hot weather we having here at the moment.
Do you oask yourself what people have watched for the last 7 minutes and 15 seconds of your video to warrant asking so many questions? i do
) I mean where do you put the hinge, what do you use, what happens & how does it work, do you use a hook!?
) The video shows all so why ask all the questions lol. Btw i catch often with this rig and yep i saw it first here although ive used similar i have changed to exactly as shown here. I havent had any big carp yet but the waters to blame for that.
how to you strip sections off the coated braid ? thanks
I tend to use the small, inline Korda methods, but there are many others that will work well for this set up.
Thanks
what feeder would you recommend using with this rig ?
thanks,
Oh, and yes I agree, generally, shorter links work best with the method, however, this one was designed for larger carp catches.
I have heard from many top carp anglers that longer hooklinks are generally best for catching the bigger fish….
So, why use the method with a short hooklink?
I’ve also talked to many angers around venues and most believe “” THE METHOD TENDS TO ONLY CATCH SMALLER CARP”" – But is this because many method users fish with short links?
The stiff section isn’t supposed to remain on the bottom when carp sucks at bait. The idea is it makes the hookbait harder to eject when the fish takes it.
I put the hinge in so the link can bend round and allow the hook to enter a carp’s mouth no matter where a fish approaches from.
Thanks for your comments guys, it all helps answer questions!!
Yes, thats right, but the hinge only needs to be a tiny break of the coating. You’ll feel the link go floppy when you make the hinge.
Good Luck Mate!
there is no way that the stiff part of the rig stays on the bottom of the lake bed wen the carp sucks in the bait ,..even if you have rig putty half way down your hook link..i think its because of the braid that korda productions have come up with..i find that the briad is a all round good braid cause it blends into the lake bed so well and when pind to the bottom fish cant see the rig..all so shorten down your hook link to 3 or 4 inch and your`ll get even more takes.tightlines
so you strip plastic coating from where the hook is and theen in the middle strip a little section so there is plastic coating, a gap and then more plastic coating
Hinge is made simply by stripping a tiny section of the plastic coating. Do it exactly where you want the hinge to be.
Thanks
