NEW FLIES –THE HOLY GRAIL- FLY Tying 101 (NEW FLIES)

by Dan on July 15, 2010

NEWFLIES video introduces the NEW (Nuclee-r Emission Wing) basic tying instructional video featuring NEW FLY TYING MATERIALS FLIES and METHOD FOR MAKING FISHING FLIES (Patent Pending, includes jigs and lures). This episode shows how to easily tie and heat finish fantastic iridescent flies with just one color of NEW — UVA! In this episode, the NUCLEE-R ENERGY AGENCY has declassified THE # ONE TOP SECRET, that Tim Caillouet, owner of POLARIS FLIES and the inventor of the NEW FLY TYING PROCESS has devised to increase tying speed with NEW Materials. Don’t try these special processes with other materials, as that dog won’t hunt….(or work for you city slickers). Easily make fantastic flies for all species in sizes from 10 up to 6/0! This system utilizes a special highly reflective, multi-layered film cut to my exacting standards and specially blended. The Patent Pending heat process, that even us “Homer Simpsons” can utilize to quickly tie iridescent flies under a special non-commercial use license, is explained in the video. This special process can actually produce several different hues from the same one color of NEW FLY TYING MATERIALS! But I do agree. This is a really simple idea, I mean who wouldn’t be able to take some tinsel off their Christmas tree & hot glue it to a hook then when your all done ya just gotta melt it..
However I will admit, I will probably buy a couple colors of tinsel from the store next christmas to add a little more variety to my lures/flies…. Maybe

That is what these videos are about, being creative. Anyone can create a great new fly pattern or update an older pattern with newer materials.

The vise was created by Norm Norlander, a mechanical engineer who has several Patents for it. Others try to copy some of the functions, but because of Norm’s Patents they have hands that turn like a meat grinder.
The Nor-Vise is available with FREE NEW Fly Tying Materials through my shop through the NEWFLIES Network channel link for NEWFLIES products.

Your genius, i live in Serbia and started fly fishing few months ago. In my country people often try from nothing to make something, but your flies are superb because they don’t cost a lot and even a new fly tier can make them.
One question. Did you made your vise by your self, and if you did it how? Thanks in advance! ;)

It helps to have video tutorials for fly tying. Much appreciated!

A couple cents for the materials – chemically sharpened hooks run about $.10 (unless you want to pay for the high dollar magazine ad branded ones, which ain’t no better). Then you need vice, tools, etc…..

No, not smart. Just not afraid to try something new or different to tie with, even if it doesn’t work and I have to just throw it in the trash can, like about 40% of experimental flies tied.
